Touching the Earth at City Hall

There is some new art at City Hall Park - 8 bronze sculptures by famed artist, Thaddeus Mosley. The pieces are all cast from his original wood carvings made between 1996 and 2021. His works are known for ranging in size and pushing viewers to ponder the relationship between abstract forms and urban environments.
These were such fun, whimsical pieces. They really blended into the park+city backdrop but also stood out and caught your eye as you walked through the park!

Improvisations in Madison Square Park

Right now in Madison Square Park, Larry Bell’s glass cubes are on display and they are catching the light in every direction! The colorful cubes reflect the park, the skyline, and everyone passing through. The pieces were designed so that as the day's light shifts, so does everything around them. Bell is well known for turning glass into something alive; he intends his pieces to bend light, mirror movement, and somehow make you see the space differently every time you walk by.
The pieces are so pretty and looked lovely in the midday fall light, as leaves fell around them. I truly feel that public art in city parks is what makes cities so unique and special and this installation proves that once again!

The Good. The Random. The Fun. v. 41

The Good:
In an amazing turn of events....all living hostages are HOME in Israel!! 2 years and one week and it feels like every Jew in the world has collectively exhaled! It's a good weird to not need our "bring them home now" dog tags or yellow ribbons anymore, but that is more than ok!

The Random:
Interesting choice of sign, 16 Handles...and yes I have seen high school kids try...

The Fun(ny):
I popped into Fishes Eddy and had a good laugh over this little display!

A Day in Beacon

We drove up to Beacon over the weekend to have brunch and walk around. Beacon is a little town along the Hudson River about an hour north of us. It's nestled in the mountains and known as a bit of an artist colony with a fun vibe.

We had a really great brunch at a cafe that is 100% gluten-free and then strolled the main street popping into the various shops.

The shops are a mix of funky vintage-type places, fun general store type places, a book shop, a witchcraft/crystal place, kid's boutique, and more! I shopped local at the book shop (can't not buy a book, ha!) and Judah treated himself to a fancy marshmallow hot chocolate at the marshmallow shop.

We also strolled over to the waterfalls and enjoyed taking in the pretty scenery! Judah got adventurous and climbed down onto the rocks to get a picture. I stayed firmly planted on higher ground! It was a perfect weekend day date!
